Switzerland’s legendary GoldenPass Panoramic Train, recreated in HO scale by PIKO

The GoldenPass route is one of Switzerland’s most famous panoramic rail journeys, linking Interlaken, Zweisimmen, Gstaad and Montreux through some of the country’s most spectacular scenery. This detailed PIKO 5-car passenger set recreates the elegant BLS GoldenPass panoramic coaches used on the standard-gauge section between Interlaken and Zweisimmen.

Finished in the iconic cream, blue and gold GoldenPass Panoramic livery, the set captures the character of the famous Swiss panoramic trains that became closely associated with premium alpine rail travel. Designed for authentic push-pull passenger operation, the coaches pair beautifully with suitable BLS electric locomotives to recreate realistic modern Swiss train formations.

Prototype:

In cooperation with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), BLS operated GoldenPass Panoramic services on the Interlaken–Spiez–Zweisimmen route as part of the wider GoldenPass line connecting central Switzerland with the Vaud Alps and Montreux. The distinctive panoramic coaches became well known for their large windows, comfortable interiors and elegant GoldenPass branding, offering passengers spectacular views of Switzerland’s mountains, lakes and alpine landscapes.

Model:

This PIKO HO scale set faithfully reproduces the BLS EW I GoldenPass coaches in Era VI configuration with accurate markings and detailing. The 5-car set consists of two first-class coaches, one mixed first/second-class coach and two second-class coaches. All coaches are factory-fitted with interior lighting and close coupler mechanisms for realistic model train operation.
