Marklin 43629 Union Pacific US Heavyweight 4-Passenger Car Set

H2: Product Features || Marklin 43629 is the first US heavyweight passenger car set introduced into the Marklin range and comprises four different Union Pacific passenger cars: one four-axle combined baggage and seating car, two six-axle chair cars and one six-axle observation car with a business lounge and viewing platform. All four cars feature factory-installed warm-white LED interior lighting with buffer capacitors. The combined baggage and seating car is equipped with an mfx digital decoder for controlling various lighting functions and a pickup shoe supplying current to the complete consist. Factory-installed current-conducting close couplers provide the electrical connection between the cars, which are coupled in a defined sequence. The observation car also features an illuminated viewing platform. The complete set measures approximately 112 cm and is designed as the matching passenger car set for the Marklin 39913 US “Challenger” steam locomotive.

H2: Prototype Information || The prototype comprises four different US heavyweight passenger cars in Union Pacific’s two-tone grey paint scheme as they appeared around 1948/1952. The consist includes a four-axle combined baggage and seating car, two six-axle chair cars used as dedicated passenger coaches and a six-axle observation car incorporating a business lounge and viewing platform at one end. Heavyweight passenger cars were characteristic of American long-distance passenger trains during the first half of the twentieth century, with their substantial construction and distinctive multi-axle trucks.
