ÖBB Railjet 2 – Austria's Next-Generation Long-Distance Passenger Train

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) is introducing the Railjet 2 as a new generation of long-distance trains, combining high passenger comfort, modern technology and improved energy efficiency. Siemens Mobility developed the Railjet 2 on its Viaggio Next Level platform as the successor to the first-generation Railjet. The new design places greater emphasis on an integrated train formation, seamless movement between coaches and greater modularity.

The six-car formation consists of a Business/First Class end coach, First Class coach, bistro coach, multifunction coach, Economy Class coach and Economy Class driving trailer.

The Model

The Railjet 2 is a completely new model construction, reproduced in fine detail at 1:87 scale. The model features a highly detailed driving trailer front, multi-part coach underframes with separately fitted skirts, bogies with separately fitted disc brakes, detailed roof-mounted air-conditioning equipment and multi-part interiors. The closely coupled coaches and detailed connecting hoses create a nearly continuous appearance across the train.

The coaches feature separately fitted luggage racks, flush-mounted destination displays and NEM coupling pockets with rigid couplings supplied. Digital versions include interior lighting and current-conducting couplings on all coaches, while the driving trailer also features switchable cab lighting, high beam, headlights and tail lights, as well as the Italian headlight configuration.
